Romeo and Juliet is one of those stories that we all know, whether or not we’ve read the play. So, it’s a bit exciting, really, to change the story, and reimagine a different plot. That’s partly what Anne Fortier does in her novel, “Juliet.” Fortier is from Denmark, which begs the question, why not reimagine Hamlet? But Romeo and Juliet is much more romantic, and the setting is enchanting. In fact, Fortier tells Bob that her inspiration for the novel was the Tuscan countryside. The novel is getting lots of attention, both from fans, and from critics who are scandalized by the thought of monkeying with the bard.
