As you consider buying that electronic gadget at the top of your loved one’s wish list, you might also want to consider how all the components come together to make that iPhone somewhat affordable. The online newspaper Global is in the middle of an ongoing series investigating the working conditions in the Asian factories where all sorts of gadgets are manufactured. Managing editor Thomas Mucha and his reporters found labor violations across the supply chain ranging from hourly wages below a dollar to firings with no notice.
